Sharing the joy of traditional shanties and 'songs of the sea', all sung a cappella true to the sea-faring tradition but with a fresh approach including mixed male & female voices and atmospheric harmonies
After all the fun of Meva Shanty Fest last weekend we headed to the Ship Inn Pentewan on Sunday evening for dinner, a quiz and a sing along with some of our shanty crew friends including Southampton Salty Sea Dogs. Our voices were almost entirely gone at that point but we still managed a rousing shanty or two.
Thankfully our voices have just about recovered from Meva Shanty Fest in time for our gig at the Maritime Solent Awards at Hilton Southampton - Utilita Bowl this evening.
Mevagissey Shanty Festival
The Steam Town Shanty Crew has just got back from performing at Meva Shanty Fest in Mevagissey and we were blown away by how many people from Eastleigh, Bishopstoke, Chandlers Ford and Romsey were there to see us! Thanks you so much for your support and for tracking us down during the event and speaking to us, it means so much.
Our next public gigs are
14th November Hamble Lifeboat fundraiser @ Hamble Village Hall
21st November Swanage Shanty Festival
26th November Steam Town Brew Co Birthday at
Steam Town Brew Co at 8pm.
More details on our Facebook page.
We were very privileged to be on the main stage at Meva Shanty Fest as part of the Big Sing to close the festival alongside all the other performers and the amazing Stuns'ls. Thank you so much to them and the whole organising team for an amazing weekend. Thank also to our partners, wives and husbands (and mums) for their support over the weekend and our other followers. Special shout out to David Mackie of Steam Town Brew Co for being here for the weekend supporting us and for his ongoing support of the Steam Town Shanty Crew. Do we now need to plan the Steam Town Shanty Festival???
